Digital Audio Tape, a signal recording and playback medium developed by Sony and introduced in 1987.

This is a digital format that can copy CD's without loss onto Digital tape cassette or vice versa. It can also be a file format that is a direct digital copy of a digital tape.
The standard allows 4 sampling modes: 32 KHz at 12 bits, and 32 KHz, 44.1 KHz or 48 kHz at 16 bits. 44.1 KHz is identical to CD's.
